Professor Diliberto, Italian Dean of the School of Law and Economics, Wins the "Bianzhong Award" of the Hubei Provincial Government

Recently, in recognition of foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the economic and social development of Hubei Province and played an important role in promoting the exchange and cooperation of talents between China and foreign countries, the People's Government of Hubei Province has decided to award 15 foreign experts the "Bianzhong Award" of the Hubei Provincial Government in 2020-2022. Professor Oliviero Diliberto, who was recommended by our school, won this honor.

Professor Oliviero Diliberto is currently the Italian Dean of the School of Law and Economics, a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution established by our university and the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He is also a senior professor of "Wenlan Scholars" in our university; the chief professor of Roman law in Rome, Italy; the dean of the Law School of the Sapienza University of Rome; the president of the Italian Society of Roman Law; the former Minister of Justice of Italy and the former National Secretary of the Italian Communist Party.



Professor Diliberto actively promotes cultural exchanges between China and Europe and helps tell Chinese stories. Professor Diliberto led the establishment of the "Sino-Italian Law Research Center" in Italy and the "Chinese Law Library" with the largest collection of Chinese law documents in Europe. In June 2021, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China (Italian edition), which was translated by Professor Diliberto's team, was published by world-renowned publishing houses. Professor Diliberto has long been concerned about China's development. He has actively disseminated 's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the achievements of China's rule of law construction on important overseas media platforms. He has also been interviewed by China Central Television for many times and expressed his important views on such topics as "China's peaceful development", "poverty alleviation and poverty reduction" and "hot spots of the two sessions". At the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic, Professor Diliberto led a team to compile an Italian version of the epidemic prevention guide with Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital, contributing Chinese experience to the prevention and control of the epidemic in Italy.

Since he was appointed as a lecture professor of "Wenlan Scholar" at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in 2016, Professor Diliberto has focused on promoting international discourse power and cultivating talents of international organizations. Under the active promotion of Professor Diliberto, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and the Sapienza University of Rome jointly established the Sino-foreign cooperative project of "Comparative Law and European Law". On this basis, in 2022, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law was approved as the first Sino-foreign cooperative school-running institution in China in the field of law and economics. Up to now, the two schools have jointly cultivated 220 students. Thanks to the support and recommendation of Professor Diliberto, our school has sent more than 20 teaching faculties and students to UNIDROIT and other well-known international organizations to participate in the practice of legislative projects such as "Model Law on Factoring" and "Digital Assets and Private Law", so as to reserve talents and contribute to China's participation in international rule-making.

This time, Professor Diliberto was awarded the "Bianzhong Award" of the Hubei Provincial Government in 2020-2022, which is also an affirmation and encouragement for the introduction of high-level foreign specialists in our university.
